# TeePublic: Publish or Save Designs for Later in Bulk

Source: https://merchtitans.com/docs/teepublic (updated 2026-11-06)

Merch Titans uploads each design to TeePublic with your title, tags, description and color choices. On the TeePublic page you choose Publish it, the default, or Save it for later, pick the clothing and colors to offer, and sign in to TeePublic in the browser window the app opens on your first upload.

## Steps

1. **Open the TeePublic page.** Click TeePublic under Where you sell in the sidebar.
2. **Choose publish or save for later.** Under When each design is uploaded, keep Publish it to put designs on sale straight away, or choose Save it for later.
3. **Pick the clothing to offer.** Under Clothing to offer, tick the clothing products you want and answer Is this mature content?
4. **Set colors.** Under Colours, choose Other colours to offer and enter a Background colour as a six-digit hex code such as #444444.
5. **Check the default colors.** Optionally open Default colour for each product and choose the color shoppers see first for each product.
6. **Start the upload.** Click Next: add your designs, add them in Easy Mode or a spreadsheet, then press Start upload.
7. **Sign in when asked.** The first time, sign in to TeePublic in the browser window that opens. The upload carries on by itself once you're in.

TeePublic uploads don't use a template. Each design is uploaded fresh, with your title, tags, description and the clothing and color choices on this page. TeePublic adds its other products by itself.

## When each design is uploaded

- **Publish it** (default): "It goes on sale straight away."
- **Save it for later**: "It waits in your TeePublic account until you publish it there."

On the upload screen, rows say **Publish** or, with Save it for later, **Save for later**. Finished rows read "Published" or "Saved for later".

## Clothing to offer

"TeePublic adds its other products, like stickers and mugs, by itself." Tick the clothing to offer, or use **Select all** and **Clear all**. All nine start ticked: **T-Shirt**, **Hoodie**, **Tank**, **Crewneck**, **Long Sleeve T-Shirt**, **Baseball Tee**, **Kids**, **Kids Hoodie** and **Kids Long Sleeve**.

**Is this mature content?** is **No** by default.

## Colours

- **Other colours to offer**: **All** (default), **Dark only**, **Light only** or **Only the default colour**.
- **Background colour**: "For cases, mugs, pillows and other products that aren't clothing." A six-digit hex code, with or without the #. The default is #444444. This is the only setting TeePublic needs: until it's valid, the status reads "Needs setup: Background colour" and the page says "Please enter a colour code like #444444."

## Default colour for each product

This collapsed section sets "The colour shoppers see first." for each product:

| Product | Default |
|---|---|
| T-shirt | White |
| Hoodie | Black |
| Tank | White |
| Crewneck | White |
| Long sleeve t-shirt | White |
| Baseball tee | Black/White |
| Kids | White |
| Kids hoodie | Black |
| Kids long sleeve | Black |
| Shorts | Black |
| Bags | Light Grey |
| Hats | Black |

The app matches these to TeePublic's color lists by name at upload time.

## Signing in to TeePublic

"The first time you upload, a browser window opens for you to sign in. Merch Titans never sees your password."

- If you're not signed in, Merch Titans shows "TeePublic: please sign in, in the browser window that just opened." and the TeePublic page shows "Merch Titans: please sign in to TeePublic here. It carries on by itself once you're in." The app waits until you've signed in.
- If TeePublic checks the browser, the page shows "Merch Titans: TeePublic is checking this browser. If it asks you anything, please answer here. The upload carries on by itself." The app waits up to 10 minutes and never answers the check for you.
- **Stay signed in on this computer** is ticked by default. The sign-in is saved, encrypted, on this computer.
- To sign out or switch accounts, open **Signing in to TeePublic** and click **Forget my sign-in**. Unticking **Stay signed in on this computer** only stops new sign-ins being saved; a saved one is still used until you click **Forget my sign-in**.
- **Log Out** in the sidebar also clears every saved marketplace sign-in.

## Spreadsheet columns

"Only needed for spreadsheets you upload yourself. Easy Mode sets these for you." Column A is always the design's file path.

| Field | Default column |
|---|---|
| Title | B |
| Description | C |
| Tags | D |
| Main tag | E |

A header named "Primary Tag for TeePublic" or "Primary Tag" is matched to Main tag automatically. See [Spreadsheet upload](https://merchtitans.com/docs/spreadsheet-upload).

## What happens during an upload

- **Checks first.** Every listing needs a title, description and tags. In Easy Mode, the **Primary Tag for TeePublic** box is also required: "Design N: TeePublic Primary Tag is required".
- **One browser window.** The app signs in, then works through your listings one at a time. Each row reads "Publishing" while it works.
- **Upload.** The app opens TeePublic's upload page, uploads the design and waits for TeePublic to process it, up to 3 minutes for the preview plus up to 3 minutes of processing.
- **Listing details.** It types the main tag, the other tags, the title and the description, and sets mature content. It switches the clothing on or off to match your ticks, picks each product's default color, sets the other colors and the background color, and centers the design on non-clothing products such as cases, pillows, mugs, prints, notebooks and totes. Then it ticks TeePublic's terms box.
- **A paced save.** The app waits a random 10.5 to 31.5 seconds, because TeePublic watches for uploads that come too quickly. Then it publishes the design or saves it for later, and waits up to 5 minutes for TeePublic to confirm.
- **Links.** Published rows get **View on TeePublic**. Rows saved for later get **Finish on TeePublic**, which opens the page the design was filled in on.
- **Results.** A failed row reads "Failed" with the reason, and the run carries on in a fresh tab. A listing that takes more than 20 minutes is skipped.

## Limits

- **Main tag:** up to 39 characters. A longer one is cut to 39. In a spreadsheet, a blank main tag uses the first tag.
- **Other tags:** up to 15. Duplicates and the main tag are removed.
- **Description:** up to 750 characters. Longer ones are cut.
- **Title:** no limit in the TeePublic upload. In Easy Mode, titles are held to 60 characters unless a Printify or Printful store sets another limit.
- **Design files** aren't checked by the app before upload.

At the end of a run the app tells you when something was shortened: "TeePublic allows one main tag of up to 39 characters and 15 others, so some tags were left out of N listings." and "TeePublic allows 750 characters in a description, so N were shortened."

## Uploading the same listings again

A listing already uploaded to TeePublic in the last 180 days, with the same design file name and the same text, starts unticked with a green border on the upload screen.

> **Re-ticking uploads again** If you tick a finished TeePublic listing again, by hand or with **Select all**, it is uploaded again and you get a duplicate design. To retry only what didn't finish, use **Only unfinished** on the upload screen.

## Troubleshooting

- "Needs setup: Background colour": enter a six-digit hex code, such as #444444, under **Background colour**.
- "Design N: TeePublic Primary Tag is required": fill in **Primary Tag for TeePublic** for that design in Easy Mode.
- "TeePublic: please sign in, in the browser window that just opened.": sign in to TeePublic in that window. The upload carries on by itself.
- "TeePublic's security check didn't finish. Please try again.": start the upload again, and answer the check in the window if TeePublic asks you anything.
- "TeePublic's upload page didn't open. Please try this listing again.": run that listing again.
- "TeePublic didn't show the uploaded design. It may be too large or the wrong type.": check the design file and try again.
- "TeePublic didn't keep the uploaded design.": run that listing again.
- "TeePublic wouldn't take this listing:" followed by the field TeePublic flagged: fix that field, then try again.
- "TeePublic got stuck on uploading your design. Please try this listing again." or "TeePublic got stuck on the listing details. Please try this listing again.": run that listing again.
- "TeePublic didn't confirm this listing was published. Check it there before trying again." or "TeePublic didn't confirm this listing was saved. Check it there before trying again.": check your TeePublic account first, so you don't upload it twice.
- "This listing took over 20 minutes, so it was skipped.": check TeePublic, then retry with **Only unfinished**.
- "The upload browser was closed, so the upload stopped.": leave the TeePublic window open until the run ends.

## FAQ

### Does TeePublic publish every design straight away?

Only if you keep Publish it, the default. Choose Save it for later and each design waits in your TeePublic account until you publish it there.

### Where do I find a design I saved for later?

Click Finish on TeePublic next to the listing on the upload screen. It opens the page the design was filled in on.

### Why is my TeePublic main tag shorter than I typed?

Merch Titans cuts the TeePublic main tag to 39 characters. Keep the main tag at 39 characters or fewer.

### Can I set TeePublic prices in Merch Titans?

No. The TeePublic page has no price or markup settings, no templates and no per-product placement.
