How to Switch From Printify Without Losing Your Listings (2026 Guide)

To switch from Printify without losing your listings, keep your Printify store connected, import one live listing into MyDesigns, test it, then move products in batches. MyDesigns imports from your Etsy, Shopify or TikTok Shop shop and can route an existing product to 240 Express. Disconnect Printify last. Checked Oct 30, 2026.

What Does It Mean to Switch From Printify?

Your listings do not live on Printify. They live on your sales channel, and Printify is the connection that creates them and sends the orders to a print provider. So there are two things to move: the listing data (titles, tags, images, variants) and the order routing (who prints and ships). Most sellers who "lose listings" break the link between those two by disconnecting too early.

What Printify and MyDesigns Say (Checked Oct 30, 2026)

Printify's help center article on disconnecting a store says you disconnect from the Manage my stores page: select More details next to the store, click Disconnect, then confirm with Yes, disconnect. Its note matters more than the steps: disconnecting and reconnecting a store can affect how your existing products are linked between Printify and your sales channel, and Printify recommends trying other troubleshooting first or contacting its Support team before disconnecting a store with active products. If you reconnect, it says to relink existing products instead of republishing them as new ones. It also says Delete may remove the associated products from your Printify account. (Printify blocks direct page fetches, so we read the article through a text mirror on Oct 30, 2026. Confirm the wording in your own Printify account.)

On the MyDesigns side, three pages matter:

• The MyDesigns Import & Sync page says you can import listings and export to Etsy, Shopify and TikTok Shop, edit titles, descriptions and tags once in MyDesigns, and sync the changes to the live listings.
• The MyDesigns Printify integration docs say connecting Printify is optional, the Printify catalog inside MyDesigns is a curated selection that keeps growing, and orders for Printify products are still fulfilled through your connected Printify account while you track them in the MyDesigns order dashboard.
• The 240 Express docs say you can publish new products on 240 Express blanks or reroute listings you already sell to 240 Express in a couple of clicks, that production runs 2 to 3 days, and that tracking flows back to your dashboard.

What the docs do not say: whether reviews, sales history or listing IDs carry over on import. We will not claim they do. That is why step 3 below is a one-listing test.

How to Switch From Printify in 8 Steps

1. Inventory your catalog. Open a spreadsheet with your top 20 products by sales, the blank (for example Gildan 5000), the Printify print provider and your current base cost. This is your price benchmark for step 6.
2. Leave Printify connected. Do not click Disconnect or Delete. Every live order still needs a path to a printer while you test.
3. Connect your shop to MyDesigns and import one listing. Use the secure authorization flow in the Etsy integration docs, import your best-selling listing, and compare title, tags, images and variants against the live listing. Write down anything missing.
4. Order a 240 Express sample. Pick the same blank, the same design and your largest-selling size. Compare print quality, hand feel and delivery time with a Printify sample.
5. Check order routing before you move anything. Confirm which system receives the next order for that listing, so you never pay two printers for one shirt. We could not verify how orders are split when both platforms are connected to the same shop, so place one low-value test order yourself.
6. Compare base cost on live catalog prices. The 240 Express docs say current base costs show on each product in the catalog. On our Oct 26, 2026 catalog check a Gildan 5000 listed at $6.75 and a Gildan 64000 at $7.95 on the Free plan. Put your step 1 number next to the live number.
7. Move one batch, then wait. Reroute 4 to 24 products, watch reviews, support messages and delivery times for 30 days, then move the next batch. Avoid moving your best sellers in the weeks before Black Friday (Nov 27, 2026).
8. Disconnect Printify last. Only when no active product still routes to Printify, disconnect the store from Manage my stores. Use Disconnect, not Delete.

How Long Does a Switch Take? (Worked Example With 150 Listings)

Plan limits decide your speed. These limits come from the MyDesigns plan docs (checked Oct 28, 2026): publications per batch and marketplace publishes per day.

This assumes each moved listing counts as one marketplace publish. If an import-and-sync edit does not count against the daily limit, you will go faster. Either way, do not rush: the 30-day watch window in step 7 is the real constraint, not the publish limit.

The Etsy fee check. Etsy's Fee Basics page (checked Oct 30, 2026) charges a flat $0.20 per listing, whether or not it sells. If a method republishes your 150 products as brand-new listings, that is 150 x $0.20 = $30.00 in listing fees. If it updates the existing listings, that fee does not apply. • Printify is not an import source. The Import & Sync page lists Etsy, Shopify and TikTok Shop, so you import from your shop, not from your Printify account.
• Printify connection needs a paid plan. The Free plan does not include the Printify integration (plan docs, Oct 28, 2026), so a staged move that keeps Printify running needs Starter or higher.
• The Printify catalog inside MyDesigns is curated. Only the products MyDesigns chose to integrate appear, so some Printify products may be missing.
• 240 Express covers a short list of blanks. The docs name the Gildan 64000, Gildan 5000, Bella+Canvas 3001, Next Level 3600, Comfort Colors 1717, Gildan 18000 and Gildan 18500. Other product types need another partner.
• Carry-over is unconfirmed. The docs do not say reviews, sales history or listing IDs transfer.
