Write Listings with AI: Titles, Tags and Amazon Bullets
Write listings with AI is a button on Easy Mode step 3 that writes the title, description, tags, brand and Amazon bullets for each design by looking at the image. It's built into Merch Titans, so you never enter an AI key. The only AI setting is Custom instructions (optional).

What it fills
AI writes only the fields you tick, and only fields the marketplaces you turned on use. The choices are Title, Description, Tags, Primary Tag, Brand, Amazon Bullet #1 and Amazon Bullet #2, with Select All and Deselect All. Merch Titans remembers your choice for next time.
| Field | What AI writes |
|---|---|
| Title | At least 3 characters, up to your title limit (60, or your Printify or Printful store's limit) |
| Description | A product description |
| Tags | 10 to 15 tags, or the number your Printify or Printful store allows |
| Primary Tag (TeePublic) | One tag, up to 48 characters |
| Brand (Amazon Merch) | Aims for 40 characters, cut at 50 |
| Amazon Bullet #1 and #2 | Aims for 220 characters each, cut at 256 |
If you tick nothing, you'll see "Please select at least one field to fill." If none of your marketplaces use these fields, you'll see "No fields are available for the platforms you've selected. Please enable at least one applicable platform."
Custom instructions
Custom instructions (optional) is under AI instructions and bulk edit on step 3. Whatever you type there is added to every request Merch Titans sends to the AI, for every design. Use it for context that applies to the whole batch, such as the niche or audience the designs are for.
Your instructions are saved on this computer and stay between sessions. They aren't part of a settings backup file. See Save and load settings.
The Amazon-restricted words filter
Filter Amazon-restricted words from tags removes these words: gift, birthday, wood, metal, marble, sequin, glitter, leather, rubber, fuzzy, furry, glass, diamond, neon, metallic, foil, gold, sparkling, glow, engrave, engraving, engravings, engraved.
Despite its label, the filter removes these words from every field AI writes, not only tags.
Additional Amazon-restricted words to filter (comma-separated) adds your own words to the filter, for example christmas, halloween, thanksgiving.
What the AI is told to avoid
The AI is told not to use promotional phrases, gift filler on Amazon listings, claims about materials, or brand names and famous characters it doesn't recognize as generic. It can still get this wrong, so read the results and run Check trademarks before you upload.
How it works
- Merch Titans sends a smaller copy of each design, at most 1024 pixels, to Google's Gemini AI with instructions to write the fields you ticked.
- It writes 12 designs at a time.
- If the AI service is busy or has a server error, it tries again, up to 5 attempts in all, waiting longer each time.
- It writes from the image and your custom instructions. It doesn't look up live keyword or search data.
- Only the fields you ticked are overwritten.
Progress and messages
While it runs, the button reads "Analyzing..." and the progress line counts designs, for example "Analyzing images… 4/10 completed (6 remaining)". When it's done, the line reads "Analysis complete" with the total.
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Populated your design details successfully." | Every design got suggestions. |
| "Did not return suggestions for some designs." | Some designs got nothing back. A "Warnings:" line lists why. Fill those designs in yourself or try again. |
| "Analyze Images failed:" followed by a reason | The run failed. Try again. |
| "Gemini returned an empty response." | One design didn't get any text back. Try again. |
| "Gemini response was not valid JSON." | One design got a reply the app couldn't use. Try again. |
Google's own error text can also appear in these messages.
After AI writes your listings
AI gives you a starting point. Read each card, fix anything that doesn't fit the design, then:
- run Check trademarks to look for trademark matches and risky words;
- press Start upload to continue with Easy Mode.
Fix all trademarks also uses AI, to rewrite only the fields that contain a trademark match.
Questions
Do I need my own AI or Gemini key?
No. AI listing writing is built into Merch Titans and there is no key field anywhere in the app. The only AI setting is Custom instructions (optional).
Will AI overwrite text I've already written?
Only in the fields you tick in Select fields to fill. Untick a field to keep your own text in it.
Does the AI research keywords?
No. It writes from your design image and your custom instructions. It doesn't fetch live keyword or search data, so add any keywords you want by hand or in your custom instructions.
Can AI write listings for a spreadsheet upload?
AI writing is part of Easy Mode. You can write your listings there, then click Export spreadsheet to save them as a spreadsheet.
Where do my designs go when AI writes listings?
A smaller copy of each design, at most 1024 pixels, is sent to Google's Gemini AI to write the text. Your original files stay on your computer.
